Josh Feltham

Josh combines his passion for the natural world with a genuine belief that he can contribute to positive economic, social, cultural, and ecological change through research and teaching. He is a full-time professor and coordinator of the Ecosystem Management program at Fleming College's School of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences. Josh completed his undergraduate degree in Zoology and Environmental Science at the University of Toronto and his PhD in Environmental and Life Sciences at Trent University. He managed Canada’s largest indoor reptile zoo for 10 years before deciding to move his family to a small biological research station in Costa Rica. He was awarded the Vice-President Academic’s Contract Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2011 and the Brian L. Desbians Community Service Award in 2014. He was awarded the 2021 Francis R. Cook Mentorship award for his commitment to and contribution to students in the field of herpetology. Being sensitive to student needs and abilities while challenging them to take measured risks and expand their comfort zone are key elements of Josh’s style and approach to teaching. His philosophy in education is to present challenges to students that will increase their adaptability, creativity, and ingenuity to make them more resilient and successful in a rapidly changing workplace.
